Introducing the NEW DHD Futures Fin

Introducing the new DHD Futures Fin. We've been working together for a few years with our elite team riders, finding that nice balance of performance and user friendly attributes.

It's a larger template fin, with a wider base. The idea with this, is to maximise the drive off the bottom. I also wanted to have a modest raked tip, to make sure the release off the top was not compromised.

The fin was designed to be an all around fin that works in most conditions. We've been testing it up here in everything from 2ft slop, to well over head. The DX1, 3DV, WILKO F13, and Sweet Spot 2.0 are ideal, but any all around board is perfect!

Q & A

- So Darren, what was the idea when designing this fin with Futures?

We've been working together for a few years with our elite team riders, finding that nice balance of performance and user friendly attributes. Essentially, we were looking for a fin that would work well in my models and for a wide range of surfers.

- And what was the end product?

It's a larger template fin, with a wider base. The idea with this, is to maximise the drive off the bottom. I also wanted to have a modest raked tip, to make sure the release off the top was not compromised.

- So who has been helping you work on developing this fin?

As far as team riders, Ethan Ewing and Jack Freestone have been testing different templates for about a year now. They are both powerful surfers, so they prefer that fuller base but also a fin that can still be thrown around.

- This is the only fin in the range that features a bevelled leading edge. What's the benefits of having this?

Yes, its something I've been doing for a while with my team riders. The bevelled leading edge helps the fin in transitions. This effectively makes it easier for the board roll from rail to rail.

- And lastly, are there any of your specific models you recommend this fin in?

It sounds cheesy, but the fin was designed to be an all around fin that works in most conditions. We've been testing it up here in everything from 2ft slop, to well over head. The DX1, 3DV, Wilko, and Sweet Spot are ideal, but any all around board is perfect!
